I want to come in for a trial class.  Do you have gloves I can borrow?

We have rental gloves available at the front desk for 4$.

In order to rent our gloves we ask that you wear wraps underneath them.

I have never done kickboxing or participated in a combat sport in my life.  Can I still benefit from Train for Life?

YES! You stand to benefit the most.  Thinking you are not good enough at boxing to start boxing is like saying you are too dirty to take a bath.    Our mission is to help people achieve their personal health and fitness goals.  We emphasis kickboxing because it's fun, exciting, and extremely effective.  Our staff has a combined 70 years of experience in teaching martial arts and fitness.   Keep in mind that every single person here has had their "first day" and will be looking for ways to help instead of judge.

If you still need reassurance please stop by and ask for a day pass to try us out.  We definitely only want to sign up people who love our gym.

I see it says Gracie Jiu Jitsu and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu all over the place.  Is that something I have to do as a Train for Life member?

Only if you want to.  Chapel Hill Gracie Jiu Jitsu is the place that the concept for Train for Life grew out of.  The owner of Train for Life, Mazi Heydary is a Black Belt under UFC legend Royce Gracie and the management staff are students of Mazi.  The concept for Train for Life came from discussions we had about the benefits Gracie Jiu Jitsu has had on the lifestyle and health of the community.  We wanted to find a way to make those benefits accessible to our entire community even if they didn't all think they were ready for the jiu jitsu.

We love Gracie Jiu Jitsu and think it is worth trying .  We offer anyone interested a complimentary class to see if they love it as well.  Please note that the Gracie Jiu Jitsu classes are separate and their cost is not included in the standard Train for Life membership.

What equipment will I need to get the most out of classes at Train for Life?

For kickboxing classes you will need wraps and a pair of gloves.  Pretty much anything you need is on sale at our store.

  Do you have showers?

Yes!  We have a men's and women's locker room.  There are four showers in the women's and two in the men's.

This gym is different than anything I've seen and I am not sure I know what to do.  Will someone help me figure it out?

Absolutely!  All new members will have an orientation with one of our team members where they show you the ins and outs of Train for Life.   They will help you find what classes and equipment will best suit your needs as well as explaining the easiest way to take advantage of the daily operations of the gym.  If at the end of your orientation you and the team member both think that you would benefit with some 1 on 1 time with either a boxing coach, Gracie Jiu Jitsu coach, or a nationally certified personal trainer then they will help you book a complimentary meeting with one of them to discuss your goals and how to achieve them.

Do you offer personal training?

Yes,  We have a personal training team with experienced and certified personal trainers that are trained to help you achieve your health and fitness goals. We also have private kickboxing and Gracie Jiu Jitsu lessons available as well.  Take note that private instruction is not included in the standard membership at Train for Life.
